Description:

The new Halloween film is an iconic and picture-perfect slasher horror film. This series is known for goofy, over the top drama and terrifying delights.

~Spoilers~

This latest addition to this series was a great way to end the life of Michael Myers. Jamie Lee Curtis plays a deranged, emotionally fragile, physical badass grandma with Judy Greer playing the stereotypical cynical child.

This movie is decently written but plays off of all the old school slasher cliches and stereotypes. Slasher films are so iconic and fun because they make horror approachable to new audiences and new generations. In the audience, I saw a lot of rather young people who will now go on to scarier, darker films.

Halloween became predictable in who was going to die and how, but that didn’t take away from the fun of the film. Each trap or death was still comedic relief or sweet justice for a particularly nasty character.

This may not be the most intense scary movie you’ll ever see but for a nice night out on Halloween, this was a lot of fun and a good spook. This is absolutely a film you should see in theaters because once it is on a smaller screen with fewer people, you lose the fun, comedy, and intensity of a good slasher film.

I would recommend this film to people who love cheesy films or for a good first date film. This is not the best horror film out at the moment, but it is a lot of fun to watch.

Rating: 4/10
